On July 17, 1988 ( exactly 25 years ago ) Pope John Paul II visited  Maria Weissenstein-Pietralba, the most important and well known pilgrimage monastery of South Tyrol.

Wow, that is quite a church!
First time for me to see Mary and the crucified Jesus crowned that way.

That must have been a wonderful occasion when the Pope visited. Love the church - it's so ornate and so beautiful!
